What cheap trampolines give up
Cheap trampolines rarely skimp where a buyer looks first, the net and the colour. The savings sit in five parts, and a listing either gives the detail or leaves it out.
| Part | What to read | On these listings |
|---|---|---|
| Frame | Galvanised, powder-coated or both | JUMMICO and HyperMotion list both; PlayActive adds a 5-year rust guarantee |
| Springs | Count for the size | 42 at 7.5ft, 48 at 8ft, 54 at 10ft |
| Padding | Material and foam thickness | 0.6-inch EPE foam on mcc direct, PVC on PlayActive |
| Net | Height and closure | 150 cm with buckles (Yohood), 160 cm (PlayActive) |
| Legs | Number and shape | 3 legs, 3 U-shaped or 3 double W |
Filling the gaps
A listing that skips one of these is not hiding a fault, but the gap is yours to fill: ask the seller or read the manual before ordering.
How we compared these cheap trampolines
We set the cheap trampolines on this page against the frames reviewed elsewhere on the site, part by part, using only what each listing says. Spring counts were the surprise.
Spring counts against mid-range frames
| Size | Entry-level here | Bestway Xtreme Air |
|---|---|---|
| 8ft | 48 (PlayActive) | 48 |
| 10ft | 54 (HyperMotion) | 56 |
The counts sit close; the difference shows in user weight and in what comes in the box. Our Bestway Xtreme Air review has the full specification for comparison.
What comes in the box with cheap trampolines
Extras decide whether cheap trampolines need a second order. The listings here split clearly.
- PlayActive: ladder, weatherproof cover, shoe bag.
- Yohood: ladder, shoe bag, anchor kit.
- JUMMICO: ladder, tensioning tool, assembly gloves.
- mcc direct: ladder and a space hopper.
- HyperMotion: a two-step non-slip ladder.
- GALACTICA and HOMCOM: the frame, mat and net.
Anchors
Only Yohood puts an anchor kit in the box at its size; PlayActive includes one from 12ft. For the rest, an anchor kit is a separate buy, covered in our trampoline parts guide.
UK gusts can lift or roll a garden trampoline. Anchor it as the manual describes, and follow the manual on taking the net down before storms.
Weight limits on cheap trampolines
Three listings give a user limit: 100 kg on PlayActive and HyperMotion, 50 kg on the HOMCOM. JUMMICO rates its mat to 150 kg, which is a material figure, not a jumper's limit. For GALACTICA, Yohood and mcc direct, confirm the limit with the seller.
A 10ft frame with a 100 kg limit
HyperMotion's 10ft takes 100 kg, so a heavier adult is over the line even on a large mat. Other 10ft trampolines on our comparison list up to 150 kg.

Standards named on cheap trampolines
Among the cheap trampolines here, only PlayActive and HOMCOM name standards in their bullets, in the sellers' words, not ours.
- PlayActive: the seller states TÜV, GS, EN-71 and CE approval for its range.
- HOMCOM 6ft: the listing states EN71-1-2-3-14.
- The other five: the bullets name no standard, so ask the seller for the certificate.

Where cheap trampolines cut corners on the listing
Some faults are on the page rather than the frame. These are the ones we found.
- Parcel sizes in the dimension field, as on mcc direct.
- One bullet written for six sizes at once, so the figure may not fit the size you pick.
- A mat rating mistaken for a user limit, as on JUMMICO.
- Mini trampoline text in an 8ft listing, as on GALACTICA.
- No pole count: a replacement net is matched to diameter and poles, so note them on delivery.

When cheap trampolines are enough
- Children under the stated limit, jumping one at a time, in a sheltered garden.
- A family that wants to see how much a trampoline gets used before a bigger frame.
- Not adults over 100 kg, and not an exposed garden without an anchor kit.
Size before anything else
The most common entry-level size is 8ft, compared in full on our 8ft trampoline page. Allow an afternoon to build one: our assembly guide lists the steps.
Frequently asked questions
- Do cheap trampolines last?
They can, if the frame is galvanised and the trampoline is anchored, covered in winter and checked. Rust protection is the part to read: PlayActive and JUMMICO describe theirs in detail.
- Which parts wear first?
The net and the padding, since they sit in sun and rain all year. Springs and mat follow. Replacements are matched by diameter, spring length and pole count.
- Is 7.5ft a standard size?
Yes on UK listings: about 228 cm, between 6ft and 8ft. Yohood sells it as its smallest size.
- Is assembly a two-person job?
For a garden frame, in practice yes. JUMMICO gives about 2 to 3 hours, depending on the size and the number of helpers.
- Can adults use an entry-level trampoline?
Within the stated limit and one at a time: 100 kg on PlayActive and HyperMotion.
- What does heavy duty mean on a listing?
Nothing fixed: it is the seller's phrase. Look for galvanising, the spring count and the stated user weight instead.
