SONGMICS trampoline review: the STR10GN against two 10ft rivals
We set the STR10GN beside two other 10ft frames from this site. All three share the size; they differ on where the net sits, so the table runs from the external net of the SONGMICS to a net on the mat edge and then to a no-gap zip enclosure.
| Model | Net position | Net support | Frame | Assembly aid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SONGMICS STR10GN 10ft | External, outside the springs | 180 cm straight poles, foam and sleeve | Galvanised steel, T-joints, 4 W-shaped legs | Spring buttons, labelled parts, tools |
| Zero Gravity Ultima 4 10ft | On the edge of the jumping surface | Arced uprights, wired top ring | Patented weldless frame | Quick-release net |
| Bestway Xtreme Air 10ft | Full no-gap zip enclosure | Foam-padded poles, firm top ring | Galvanised steel, 56 springs | QuickSpring Tool, spring-pin poles |
Our 10ft trampoline comparison adds six more frames of the same diameter, ranked by enclosure, springs and stated user weight.
Hands-on SONGMICS trampoline review: what we checked
For this SONGMICS trampoline review we assembled the STR10GN on level lawn and went through the box with the listing open: ladder, accessory kit, assembly tools and printed instructions, as the seller lists. The parts are labelled and the ring tubes join with spring buttons that click into the next tube.
- Frame: galvanised steel tubes with T-joints, standing on four W-shaped legs; the seller gives a 50 cm frame height.
- Enclosure: a dense PE net hung from 180 cm straight poles, each wrapped in foam and a sleeve.
- Entrance: a double-sided zip, so it opens from inside or outside, with buckles that hold it shut.
- Springs: coiled hooks at both ends, shown in the gallery next to a straight-hook spring for contrast.
- Pad: UV and moisture resistant according to the bullets; the gallery describes three layers, 500D PVC, 15 mm EPE foam and 130 g/m² PE.
The box list has no anchor kit, which matters on an exposed plot. We come back to it in the section on wind, after the springs and the space the frame takes.

One line does not add up. The last bullet gives a 'jumping area dia.' of 129 cm, less than half of the 305 cm frame, which no round 10ft trampoline has. We read it as a misprint and take the mat size from the printed instructions, never from that bullet.
The external net under our SONGMICS trampoline review
The first bullet sets this model against inner-net trampolines and claims 20% more jumping space. A gallery image draws the same comparison, 305 cm against 251 cm for an unnamed rival, and labels the design an 'external enclosure net'. The net hangs outside the frame, so springs and pad sit inside the enclosure with the jumper.

What the pad has to do
With the net outside, the pad is the only layer between feet and springs. The gallery lists 500D PVC on top, 15 mm EPE foam inside and a 130 g/m² PE layer underneath, with UV, water and tear resistance claimed for the whole pad. Check that it lies flat over every spring before each session.
Zip, buckles and the entrance
The double-sided zip is closed by buckles, which stop it creeping open during play. Trampoline manuals ask for the entrance to stay shut during every jump and for children to jump under adult supervision; our trampoline safety guide sets out the rest of the house rules.
RoSPA advises an enclosure net plus padding over the springs and frame. The STR10GN has both, with the net on the outside; an inner net clips to the mat edge instead, so the jumper never reaches the pad.
36 or 64 springs: the gap our SONGMICS trampoline review found
The third bullet gives 36 springs with coiled hooks. A gallery image of the same listing shows 'Ours: 64' springs, each 14.2 cm long and 117.4 g. Both cannot be true of one 305 cm frame, and nothing on the page says which size the gallery panel was drawn for.
Other 10ft listings on this site give 56 springs (Bestway Xtreme Air) and 54 (HyperMotion). That puts 64 nearer the usual figure, but we would not order spares on either number.

Replacement springs are matched by length and hook type. Count the springs on your own frame, measure one end to end, then use our guide to trampoline parts to find a match.
Frame, legs and T-joints on the STR10GN
The frame is galvanised steel joined by T-joints, which the seller credits with a longer lifespan. Four W-shaped legs carry the ring; each W puts two feet on the lawn, eight contact points in all, which spreads the frame over more ground than straight legs.
- Galvanised steel, rust-resistant according to the seller.
- T-joints where each leg meets the ring.
- 50 cm from ground to frame: the ladder bridges that step for younger jumpers.
- 150 kg maximum load, listed for one jumper at a time; it is never shared out between several children.

Building it: assembly notes from our SONGMICS trampoline review
The seller lists spring buttons for joining tubes, labelled parts, clear instructions and the tools. We followed the printed order; the sequence below matches most round frames, and our step-by-step assembly guide covers each stage in more depth.
- Lay the ring tubes and legs out by label on the spot where the trampoline will stand.
- Click the tubes together with the spring buttons and fit the four W-shaped legs at the T-joints.
- Hook the springs between frame and mat, working on opposite sides in turn so the mat stays centred.
- Lay the pad over the springs and tie it down.
- Raise the 180 cm poles, hang the net outside the frame and close the zip and buckles.
- Set the ladder at the entrance.
Two adults make the spring stage easier, one holding the mat edge while the other hooks. Keep the printed instructions with the spare-part list: the bullets alone will not tell you the mat size.
Garden space for a 305 cm frame
A 10ft trampoline needs the frame itself plus clear space on every side and overhead. The listing gives frame and pole figures; the clearance distances come from the manual, so read them there before you mark out the lawn.
| Garden situation | What to check on the STR10GN |
|---|---|
| Lawn about 4 m across | 305 cm of frame leaves a narrow margin; measure the manual's clearance against fences and sheds |
| Under a tree or washing line | 256 cm overall height before anyone jumps: move the frame clear |
| Sloping lawn | Four W-shaped legs need level ground; level the spot first |
| Next to a fence | The net hangs outside the frame, so the poles mark the outer edge |
| Patio or decking | Not the surface for it: RoSPA asks for a level, soft surface clear of hazards |

SONGMICS trampoline review: wind, winter and spare parts
Anchors come first on an open plot
Nothing in the box list covers anchoring, and a 10ft frame with a net can be lifted or shifted by a strong gust. On an exposed plot, an anchor kit is the first extra we would add.
- Anchors: U-shaped pegs or spiral screw-in anchors with straps, sold separately.
- Weather cover: covers are sold by diameter, so order a 10ft (305 cm) one; our cover comparison lists them.
- Replacement net: matched to diameter and number of poles; count the poles on your frame, then see our picks for a replacement net.
- High winds and winter storage: follow the manufacturer's manual on taking the net down.
Who the SONGMICS 10ft suits, and who should look elsewhere
A good match for
- Families with a lawn wide enough for a 305 cm frame plus the manual's clear space
- Households that want the whole mat inside the enclosure, as the external net gives
- Buyers who want a ladder and the tools in the box
- Jumpers within the stated 150 kg maximum load, one at a time
Better to pass if
- You want the net clipped to the mat edge so nobody lands on the pad; our Zero Gravity Ultima 4 review covers that layout
- Your garden is under 3 m across: an 8ft frame is the next size down
- Children under six will use it: RoSPA advises against full-size trampolines at that age
- You need a certain spring count before ordering spares
Final word of our SONGMICS trampoline review
8.2 out of 10 for the STR10GN. Frame, legs and box contents match what a family 10ft trampoline should bring, and the external net keeps the whole mat inside the enclosure. Marks come off for a listing that gives two spring counts and a mat size that cannot be right.
| Criterion | Mark out of 10 |
|---|---|
| Frame and legs | 9 |
| Enclosure and entrance | 8.5 |
| Springs and pad | 7.5 |
| Assembly | 9 |
| Listing clarity | 7 |
On delivery, count the springs and keep the instructions. After that, the usual rules apply: one jumper at a time, entrance zipped, an adult watching.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the SONGMICS STR10GN net inside or outside the springs?
Outside. The listing compares it with inner-net models and a gallery image calls it an 'external enclosure net', so the pad covers the springs inside the enclosure.
- What weight can it take?
150 kg, listed as the maximum load. That figure is for one jumper; trampoline manuals ask for one person on the mat at a time.
- Does it come with a ladder?
Yes. The seller lists a ladder, an accessory kit, assembly tools and instructions with the 10ft trampoline.
- Can it stay out over winter?
It is built for outdoor use: galvanised frame, UV and moisture resistant pad. For storms and long winters, follow the manufacturer's manual on removing the net, and fit a 10ft weather cover over the mat and pad.
- Are ground anchors included?
No, the box list has none. Add a kit of U-pegs or screw-in anchors with straps if your garden is exposed.
- Which spare springs fit the STR10GN?
Only your own frame can tell you. The bullets say 36 springs and a gallery image says 64 at 14.2 cm, so count and measure before ordering.
- Does SONGMICS sell other sizes?
Yes, as separate listings with their own figures. This page covers the 10ft STR10GN only; a 12ft frame needs its own spring, net and cover sizes.
