What counts as a large trampoline on UK listings
UK sellers sell round frames in 2ft steps, and the large trampoline range begins where most gardens run out of room: 14ft. Above it sit 16ft round frames and rectangles of 15 x 10ft.
| Size | Frame | Frame area | Models on this page |
|---|---|---|---|
| 14ft round | 427 cm | 14.3 m² | Plum, AWEV, MERACH, Zero Gravity, Monzana, GALACTICA |
| 16ft round | 487 cm | 18.6 m² | HyperMotion |
| 15 x 10ft rectangle | 457 x 305 cm | 13.9 m² | Zero Gravity Ultima 5 |
A 14ft frame takes nearly twice the lawn of a 10ft one (7.3 m²). If that already looks tight, the 12ft trampoline comparison is the next size down.
The order of this large trampoline list
We checked each of the eight frames against its listing, line by line, and scored them on one thing: how many figures you can check before the delivery van arrives. A large trampoline is a lot of steel to return, so a listing that hides its spring count or mat size drops down the order.
- Frame and mat diameter, and the height of the mat off the ground.
- Spring count, number and shape of legs.
- Stated user weight, kept apart from lab tests.
- What the box holds: ladder, pegs or anchors, spring tool, cover.
HyperMotion gives all of them. GALACTICA gives a size, an age and materials, which is why it closes the list.
Measuring the lawn for a large trampoline
Width first for a large trampoline
Centred in a garden 7 m wide, a 14ft large trampoline leaves 136 cm on each side and a 16ft 106 cm. In 6 m, those fall to 86 and 56 cm. The 15 x 10ft rectangle, turned lengthways, leaves 147 cm each side of its 305 cm width.
Height overhead
The listings put the netted units at 260 cm (AWEV) to 283 cm (Ultima 5). Add a jumper standing on the mat and low branches or a washing line come into range.
Level ground
Manuals ask for flat, level ground. On a 427 cm frame a gentle slope that goes unnoticed on a 10ft trampoline adds up from one leg to the next, so measure the fall across the whole circle.
We give the room a frame leaves, not the room it needs. The clearance around and above is set by each manufacturer's manual; read it for your model before you measure the lawn.

Round or rectangular large trampoline
The two shapes take almost the same lawn: 14.3 m² for a 14ft round, 13.9 m² for the 15 x 10ft rectangle. The difference is width, 427 cm against 305 cm, and who the seller has in mind.
| 14ft round | 15 x 10ft rectangle | |
|---|---|---|
| Frame | 427 cm across | 457 x 305 cm |
| Fits a garden | Square or wide | Long and narrow |
| Seller's view | Family frames, ages from 3+ (GALACTICA) | Zero Gravity: for experienced jumpers, not the very young |
| Bounce, as the seller puts it | No claim | Zero Gravity says a rectangle bounces higher |
The rectangular trampoline comparison covers the smaller 10 x 7ft and 12 x 8ft frames.

Holding a large trampoline down in UK wind
A large trampoline carries a tall ring of netting that catches wind like a sail, and a UK gust can lift or slide the frame across the lawn. AWEV is the only listing here whose bullet points name something to hold it down: four tent pegs.
- U-shaped pegs hammer in over each leg.
- Screw-in spiral anchors twist into the soil and strap to the frame.
- Zero Gravity's quick-release net comes off before a storm.
Most of these listings name no anchor kit, so check the box list. Kits are sold separately with the other trampoline parts; follow the manual for high winds and for taking the net down.
Spring counts and user weights on a large trampoline
Three of the large trampoline listings give enough figures to set side by side. More springs and legs spread the load of one jumper; they do not turn the frame into a group trampoline.
| Model | Springs or frame detail | Legs | Stated user weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| HyperMotion 16ft | 108 galvanised springs | 6 double W-shaped | 150 kg maximum load |
| AWEV 14ft | Frame wrapped in foam sleeves | 4 recurved W | 200 kg |
| MERACH 14ft | Springs cycle-tested 50,000+ times | W-shaped frame | 150 kg |
Plum lists 80 zinc-coated springs and push-button legs on its Magnitude 14ft, and leaves the jumper limit to its manual.
Lab tests are not user weights
Zero Gravity quotes 500 kg weight testing on its frame. That is a test of the steel, and it says nothing about how heavy one jumper may be.

Family use of a large trampoline
A large trampoline gives one jumper more room; it does not make room for three. Manuals and RoSPA say one person on the trampoline at a time, and children jump under adult supervision.
Ages in the listings
- GALACTICA 14ft: ages 3 and up, according to the seller.
- HyperMotion 16ft: sold as a kids trampoline, with a 150 kg maximum load.
- Zero Gravity Ultima 5: not for the very young.
- RoSPA: children under six should not use full-size trampolines.
Getting on and off
HyperMotion's mat sits about 89 cm up, which is why a two-step ladder comes with it. Keep the ladder away when nobody is supervising.
Delivery and assembly of a large trampoline
AWEV warns that its large trampoline comes in three parcels that may arrive on different days, so do not start until all three are in. The weight fields run from 62.5 kg (GALACTICA) to 87 kg (HyperMotion), possibly the parcels rather than the frame.
- Unpack and count parts against the manual's list.
- Build the ring and legs; Plum's push-button legs lock without tools.
- Fit springs at opposite points, as HyperMotion's listing describes, so the mat stays centred.
- Add padding, then poles and net, then the ladder.
AWEV includes two pairs of assembly gloves. Our step-by-step assembly guide goes through each stage.
Fields that mislead on a large trampoline listing
Most of the traps on a large trampoline listing sit in the fields under the title, not in the bullet points.
- Taking the dimension field at face value: MERACH's 14ft shows 427 x 274 cm, which no round frame measures.
- Reading the weight field as the frame: Plum's 16.5 kg cannot be a 14ft set with 80 springs.
- Treating a lab test as a user weight: Zero Gravity's 500 kg is a frame test.
- Assuming a multi-size listing describes your size: GALACTICA and MERACH sell five or six sizes under one page.
- Forgetting that pole count decides the replacement net you can buy later.
When a field looks wrong, we kept the figure from the title and the bullet points, and so should you.
A large trampoline for your household, or not
Worth it
- Gardens of 7 m or more across with a level patch to match.
- Teenagers and adults within 150 or 200 kg, jumping one at a time.
- Households ready to anchor the frame and check it after storms.
Think again
- Gardens under 6 m wide: the sizing guide shows what each smaller frame leaves.
- Lawns that slope or flood.
- A main jumper under six.
Covers and nets for a large trampoline
Covers, nets and pads are sold by diameter, and a large trampoline needs the 14ft or 16ft version. A replacement net must also match the number of poles.
- A weather cover fits over mat and padding; tents and canopies fit over the poles.
- The Ultima 5 barrel cover is sold by rectangle size, not diameter.
- For a new enclosure net, count your poles before ordering.
Plum sells spares for its Springsafe frames; the Plum trampolines page lists the range.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the biggest trampoline on Amazon.co.uk?
Of the models we compared, the HyperMotion 16ft (487 cm round) and the Zero Gravity Ultima 5 15 x 10ft (457 x 305 cm). Specialist shops sell bigger rectangles.
- How much space does a 14ft trampoline need?
The frame is 427 cm across, 14.3 m², and the manual adds a clearance on every side. In a 6 m wide garden, a centred 14ft frame leaves 86 cm each side.
- Can adults use a large trampoline?
Within the stated user weight: 200 kg for AWEV, 150 kg for MERACH and HyperMotion. One adult at a time.
- Does a bigger trampoline bounce higher?
No listing here says so for round frames. Zero Gravity claims its rectangular frame bounces higher, and says it is meant for experienced jumpers.
- How high is the mat on a 16ft trampoline?
HyperMotion gives about 89 cm for its 16ft model, which is why a two-step ladder comes in the box.
- How many people does it take to build one?
Plan two adults at least: the parcels are heavy and the ring has to be held while springs go on. AWEV supplies two pairs of gloves for that reason.
- Is a large trampoline safe in the wind?
Only anchored, and only within the manual's limits. Most of these listings name no anchor kit, so check the box and buy one if needed, and take the net down in a storm as the manual says.
- Are the ratings on a 14ft listing for the 14ft size?
Not always. Zero Gravity and Monzana pool the ratings of every size on one listing, so the figure covers the 8ft to 14ft frames together.
